The city of historical wonders, Sasaram or Sahasram is considered one of the most famous and popular places for tourists. It is famous for its historical significance. It is a small town in Rohtas district of Bihar, India. Aurangabad is located at a distance of 42 km from Sasaram city. An important role was played in the independence of India. Mohaniya which is located in Kaimur district of Bihar, 27 kilometers from Sasaram city. Rohtas is located in the west direction and at a distance of 5 kilometers Rohtas stronghold. It is believed that Rohtas Garh is named after Rohitashv, the son of King Harish Chandra. Bawan Talab is famous for the presence of ancienttemplesin its north direction, 1 kilometer from Rohtas Fort.

It is believed that since the time of Ramayana, the city is jointly named after King Sahasarjuna and sage Parashurama.
