Ujjain, one of the seven holy cities, is a historical tourist destination located on the western bank of Madhya Pradesh, on the banks of the Shipra River. In Ujjain, people go to visit Kubh Mela, people from every corner of the country come to Ujjain to see the Mahakal. That is why Ujjain is called the city of Mahakal. The area of the temple is 10.7 x 10.7 sqm and the height is 26.71 meters. Every Monday in Mahashivaratri and Shravan month, this temple is very crowded.
There is a small water source attached to the temple, called Kotitirtha, in the Mahakaleshwar temple, many temples of many deities have also been built. Therefore, in the Kumbh Mela has been organized here for 12 years, people go to visit with their family members, in this temple built on the banks of the river Shipra, the idol of Lord Ganesha itself was revealed. It is the largest Ganesh temple in the city and thousands of devotees visit it daily. Earlier there used to be a sun temple, the palace structure and the Persian dome attract you a lot. In Ujjain, people mainly go to see the temple of Mahakal, but there are other places to see here as well. It has a large courtyard which is surrounded by huge walls.
The story goes back to when Amrit was discovered. There was nectar for the first chase between the gods and the demons to conquer immortality. During this chase, a drop of nectar fell on Ujjain. This is how this holy city originated. Apart from this mythological story, the city has a long and distinguished history. The city was ruled by eminent rulers including eminent scholars like the famous king Chandragupta II, Brahmagupta and Bhakaracharya.
