In the 13th century, the city was invaded by the Delhi Sultanate and later by the Mughals. During the reign of Akbar, Raisen was made a part of the Mughal empire. Later, during the British rule, Raisen was a part of the Bhopal princely state.

Geography

Raisen is situated at an altitude of 480 meters above sea level. It is located at the foot of a hill and is surrounded by hills on all sides. The city has a hot and dry climate, with temperatures ranging from 25°C to 45°C during the summer months.

The Betwa River flows through Raisen, which provides water for irrigation and other purposes. The city is surrounded by dense forests, which are home to a variety of flora and fauna.

According to the 2011 census, the population of Raisen was 72,828. The majority of the population is Hindu, followed by Muslims and Christians. The official language of the city is Hindi, although Urdu and English are also spoken by some residents.
