Omkareshwar is a town located in the western part of Madhya Pradesh, known for its religious significance. It is home to the Omkareshwar Temple, which is a popular pilgrimage site for Hindus. The town is situated on an island in the Narmada River, and is known for its natural beauty.
It is a famous pilgrimage center on the banks of Mandhata on the banks of river Narmada, which includes one of the 12 sculpted Jyotirlinga temples of Shiva. The name Okareswar means Lord of Omkar, which is one of the two Jyotirlinga shrines or 12 shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of Jyotirlingam. Every year, sitting in the temple of Shri Omkareshwar Mahadev attracts innumerable devotees who come here to seek the blessings of God. According to the legends, the Shivalinga was offered by the Lord on the request of the Gods and was broken into two parts. One was Omkareshwar Temple and the other Amareshwar. There are other temples which are equally beautiful and worth seeing, for example, elephant frescoes in the Siddhnath temple are worth seeing information about Hindu art and architecture.

Shri Omkar Mandhata
Temple half mile wide island formed by the thorns of Narmada, a mile long. The soft stone from which it was built has also been carved on its stone roof. There are verandahs with pillars encircling the temple, which are carved in circles, polygons and squares.
Sidhnath temple
One of the finest examples of early medieval Brahmani architecture is a trunk of elephants carved on a stone slab on its outer periphery. A group of Hindu and Jain temples, notable for their efficient use of various architectural styles.

Mahashivratri
