This place is famous with the belief that Buddha spent a week here. During that period, there was the second week of his enlightenment when he saw the Bodhi tree without blinking his eyelids.
The Bodhi tree, one of the holiest Buddhist places in Bodh Gaya, is an ancient tree, beneath which Gautam Buddha has gained knowledge. Located in the Mahabodhi Temple, this fig tree is called Sri Maha Bodhi, and is identified by its fig-shaped leaves.
This sacred place is also popular as the Jewel Path. This is the place where Buddha meditated while walking. The nearby Kamal Pond is also considered to be the result of Buddha Enlightenment.
