It has an area of 4,026 square kilometers and is surrounded by the Aravalli Range on the west and north-west, the Sabarmati River on the east, and the Gandhinagar district on the south-east. The climate of Mahesana is characterized by hot summers and mild winters, with the monsoon season starting in June and lasting till September.

As per the 2011 census, the population of Mahesana was around 2.03 lakh. The majority of the population comprises of Hindus, with Muslims, Jains, and Christians being the other religious communities. Gujarati is the primary language spoken in the city, with Hindi and English being widely understood and spoken as well.
