Known as Diamond City, Surat is a famous city in Gujarat located on the banks of the Tapti River near the Arabian Sea. History

Surat served as a major port in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is also mentioned in the great Hindu epic Mahabharata, it is believed that since Lord Krishna stayed here for a break while going from Mathura to Dwarka with his cows, the footprints of his cows are still visible to the devotees.
