Bandra Worli Sea Bridge

The Bandra-Worli Samudra Setu (official Rajiv Gandhi Sagar Setu) is an 8-lane wire-supported concrete bridge. It connects Bandra to the western and southern (Worli) suburbs of Mumbai and is the first phase of the Western-Island Highway System. The bridge was inaugurated on 30 June 2009, but was opened to the public at midnight on 1 July 2009. With the construction of this five and a half kilometer long bridge, the travel time between Bandra and Worli has come down from 45 minutes to just 6-8 minutes. This bridge is the first of its kind in Mumbai and India.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway Station

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus was earlier known as Victoria Terminus. Built in the Gothic style, this huge building looks more like a palace than a railway station. It was designed by Frederick Stevens and completed in 1887. The building is decorated with domes of various sizes, minarets and stained glass windows with sculptures of monkeys, peacocks and lions. There is a large statue of Queen Victoria in the center in front of the building. Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus is known by its short name V.T. or C.S.T. more popular than . In 2004 the station was declared a World Heritage Site by the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO.

Mumba Devi Temple

There are many places of interest in Mumbai, one of which is the Mumba Devi Temple. The name of Mumbai itself is derived from the name of Mumba Aai i.e. Mumba Mata in Marathi. The temple dedicated to Mumba Devi is located at Babulnath near the sandy banks of Chowpatty. Mumba Devi Temple is about 400 years old. Aarti is performed six times a day in the temple. Tuesday is considered auspicious here. Here coins are hammered with nails on the Kathwa (wood) kept here to make a vow. There is a huge crowd of devotees.

Mahalaxmi Temple

Mahalaxmi Temple is one of the oldest shrines in Mumbai. By the sea b. Located on Desai Marg, this temple is the main center of faith of millions of people. In the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, the idols of the three goddesses Mahalakshmi, Mahakali and Mahasaraswati are present together. All the three idols are adorned with gold ornaments. Every devotees who come here believe that the mother will definitely fulfill their every wish. The temple was built in the year 1831 by a Hindu merchant named Dhakji Dadaji. Mahalaxmi temple is visible from Haji Ali due to being on the sea shore.

Juhu Chowpatty

This beach is the most famous beach of Mumbai. It is an integral part of the life of Mumbai. This beach is also very famous as a tourist destination. This beach is very big, which extends from Santacruz to Veli-Parle. The beach is very crowded on Saturday and Sunday. Snake charmers and swings are also available at Chowpatty Beach. Chowpatty is very famous for special bhel-puri and chaat.

Hengig Garden

Hanging Garden is also known as Ferozeshah Mehta Garden. Situated on the top part of the Malavar hill, this garden was constructed in 1881 AD. This garden is built on top of three reservoirs. The special attraction of the garden is the beautiful bushes cut in the shape of animals. The view of the sunset over the Arabian Sea is very beautiful from this garden.

Hotel Taj

The five-star hotel Taj Mahal is located in Colaba, Mumbai, which is near the Gateway of India. Hotel Taj is the biggest identity of the city and one of the best hotels in India. This hotel was built in 1903 by JN Tata. Taj Hotel is considered to be the pride of Mumbai. This hotel also remains the center of main attraction of the tourists.

Haji Ali

Haji Alis Dargah is located on a small island located near the Worli coast of Mumbai. This dargah holds special religious significance for both Muslim and Hindu communities. It is also an important religious and tourist destination of Mumbai. About 400 meters from the main road, this dargah is built on a small island. There is a bridge from the main road to reach the Dargah. A walk is the only way to reach the dargah. Due to the sea on both sides of the bridge, this route becomes quite picturesque. The view of the dargah is spectacular when viewed from the shore at sunset.

Gateway Of India

The Gateway of India is a very famous place in Mumbai. It is located near Apollo Bunder. It was designed by George Wittet. Ferry service is also available near this entrance for the tourists to visit the sea. The Gateway Off in Colaba, Mumbai has a height of 26 meters (85 ft). From here boats run to Elephanta Island. Millions of people come every year to see the Gateway of India.

Marine Drive

Marine Drive is a C-shaped six-lane concrete road along the Arabian Sea coast constructed in 1920. Marine Drive runs along the shores of the Arabian Sea from Nariman Point to Malabar Hill via Chowpatty. The street-lights on the spectacular curve of Marine Drive are lit at night, due to which it has been given the name Queens Necklace. Marine Drive is a great sight when viewed from tall buildings at night. Most of the tourists from all over the world are seen strolling on Marine Drive. The special attraction here is the rising and falling waves of the sea.

Mumba Devi
