Historical Monument- Forest-vibrant culture is the second largest city of lower Assam, the town of Bongaigaon. The city is one of the largest industrial and commercial centers of North East India. Bongaigaon is divided into two parts, one is Old Bongaigaon and the other is New Bongaigaon. One of the scenic spots here is Kokuzia Bill, an eco park near a place called Abhayapuri, about 15 km from the city, the place is full of flora and fauna and many migratory birds can be seen here during the winter season. Bageshwari Temple is another tourist destination located in the center of the city. Other historical sites include Jogighopa and Pancharatna. These places have ruins of Buddhist stupas and many remains of Gupta temples can also be seen.
Bageshwari Hill, Kachugon Game Reserve and Kakijana Reserve Forest. Bongaigaon city garden, Roumari Dam, Manas River Point, Rock Cut Caves and Lalmati Durmari Ganesh Temple are other notable attractions of the city. Travelers can enjoy lush greenery. Some famous places are Bageshwari Temple, Rock Cut Cave and many other places. It is also the entry point to Manas National Park and is also known for its petro-chemical industry. Bongaigaon has some beautiful places to visit. There are also religious tourist spots like Bishnupur Sankradev Satra, Bongaigaon Eco-Development Park, Tamranga Lake and Birjhora Tea Gardens and Lalmati Durgamati Ganesh Temple and Bageshwari Temple. Being a very old city, the temples and other monument structures here are worth seeing and carrying mythological and untold stories.
