Geography

Srikakulam is situated in the northern part of Andhra Pradesh and is bordered by the Bay of Bengal to the east, Vizianagaram district to the south, Odisha to the north, and the state of Telangana to the west. The district covers an area of 5,837 square kilometers and is divided into 38 mandals. The Nagavali River, a major tributary of the Godavari River, flows through the district. Srikakulam has a tropical climate, with hot and humid summers and cool winters.

According to the 2011 census, the population of Srikakulam district was 2,699,471, with a population density of 462 people per square kilometer. The literacy rate of the district is 68.9%, with male literacy at 76.2% and female literacy at 61.5%. The majority of the population is engaged in agriculture and allied activities.

Agriculture is the mainstay of the economy in Srikakulam district. The major crops grown in the district include paddy, coconut, cashew, sugarcane, and mango. The district also has a significant livestock population, with cattle, goats, and poultry being the major contributors. The district is also home to several small-scale industries, including handloom weaving, brassware making, and coir production. The district is also rich in mineral resources, with deposits of bauxite, limestone, and beach sand minerals.
