The city is surrounded by the Nallamala Hills to the north and the Kadapa and Erramala hills to the south. The Penna River flows through the city, providing irrigation and drinking water to the region.

According to the 2011 census, the population of Cuddapah is 344,893. The city has a literacy rate of 83.97% and a sex ratio of 979 females per 1000 males. The majority of the population is Hindu, followed by Muslims and Christians. Telugu is the primary language spoken in the city.

Cuddapah's economy is primarily driven by agriculture, with the majority of the population engaged in farming. The city is known for its production of rice, cotton, sugarcane, and groundnuts.
