The word Cuttack means army cantonment and also the capital city. The city started as a military cantonment. It is also called the Silver City and Millennium City of Odisha. This fort built on the banks of the Mahanadi is famous for its beautifully carved doors and nine-storeyed palace. The Paramhansnath Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva, has a huge hole here from which water itself comes out. Its specialty is called infinite pride. Kadam e Rasool is the most separate mosque in India. It was done keeping in mind the religious faith of Muslims. Salipur Branch Museum was established in 1979. Statues, weapons, terracotta are displayed in this museum.
