The word Cuttack means army cantonment and also the capital city. The city started as a military cantonment. It is also called the Silver City and Millennium City of Odisha. Cuttack is one of the oldest urban cities in Odisha and in addition toancientmonuments, Cuttack has a wide range of tourist attractions. Being the full commercial capital of Cuttack and one of the oldest cities of Odisha, you get to know the land of antiques, monuments and handicrafts. Known as Banarasi Cuttack in the medieval era and presently the Silver City, this is the reason why it has made the city one of the best in terms of tourism.


Cuttack tourism offers you sightseeing, the famous Olive Ridley Sea turtles as well as fun activities such as boating and water scootering. The purchase of silverware is an essential part of the journey to Cuttack as the city flaunts artistic and elegant silver jewelery and is praised for its fine work of silver.


Kadam Rasool Mosque which is a popular pilgrimage center of the city. In the central dome structure you will see the footprints of Prophet Mohammed inscribed on a circular stone. Cuttack being a small city, Odisha can be easily covered in a day. The Barabati Fort is the most prominent tourist destination among its main sites.


This fort built on the banks of the Mahanadi is famous for its beautifully carved doors and nine-storeyed palace. At present, this fort is an international stadium in which more than 30,000 people can sit, sports competitions and cultural events are organized. The Paramhansnath Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva, has a huge hole here from which water itself comes out. Its specialty is called infinite pride. Kadam e Rasool is the most separate mosque in India. It was done keeping in mind the religious faith of Muslims. Salipur BranchMuseumwas established in 1979. Statues, weapons, terracotta are displayed in this museum.
