Lakkidi Tourism

Lakkidi is a small hill station located in the Wayanad district of Kerala. It is known for its scenic beauty, lush green forests, and pleasant climate. The place is a popular tourist destination, especially during the monsoon season when the waterfalls in the area are at their peak. The Pookode Lake, which is surrounded by hills and forests, is also a major attraction in Lakkidi.

Rising high from the ground, Lakkidi is a gem within a gemstone called Wayanad. At 700 meters above sea level, boasting its enchanting beauty and above the Thamarasserighat Pass, this sky-high point claims to be the highest setting in Wayanad"s hill station. It is visited by visitors from all walks of life. It is also a bird watcher"s paradise and attracts birdwatchers from different parts of the world. Bird species like peacock, nightingale, cormorant, egress, snips, peafowl and babbler are seen here. The natural landscape is also an attraction for wild animal lovers. Some of the habitats include tigers, elephants, sambhars, tusks, cheetahs and spotted deer. Trekking, hiking and camping are other favorite tourist activities in Lakkidi. Here the festival of Navratri and the poet"s birthday are celebrated in a royal manner.

A small, yet colorful city of Palappuram at a distance of 5 km from Lakkidi offers many scenic wonders and tourist destinations. Home to Chinakathur Temple, Dakshinamurthy Temple, Mariamman Temple, Someshwaram Temple and St. Mary"s Church this can easily make you yearn for more.

Pookot Lake

Sitting at an altitude of 770 meters above sea level, this sweet water lake is actually a gift of Mother Nature. Only 3 km from Lakkidi, the charming hill slopes, situated amidst untouched forests and has become a popular picnic spot among visitors.


If you want to enjoy some secluded moments then you should go to Padur. Which is also called ‘Padur’.


Despite being small in size, this bucolic city can make you surrender due to its charming charm and appeal. A large number of Pazhannur also attracts a large crowd of devotees who come to this place to seek blessings from Goddess Bhagwati.

Lakshmanperumal temple

Considered to have been built by Cheramanperumal, this sacred temple worships Lord Rama and Perumal as the main deities.
