Sivaganga is a district located in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, India. It was carved out of the Ramnad district in 1984 and is bordered by the districts of Pudukkottai to the north, Tiruchirapalli to the northeast, Ramanathapuram to the east, Virudhunagar to the west, and Madurai to the south.
Sivaganga has a rich history dating back to the prehistoric period, as evidenced by the presence of megalithic burial sites in the region. The district was ruled by various dynasties, including the Pandyas, Cholas, and the Vijayanagara Empire. Later, the district was under the control of the Marathas and the British before gaining independence.

Agriculture is the primary occupation of the people in Sivaganga, and the district is known for its production of paddy, coconut, banana, and sugarcane. The district is also home to several small-scale industries, including matchbox, brick-making, and handloom weaving.
