The district is divided into six talukas, namely Hingoli, Kalamnuri, Basmat, Sengaon, Aundha, and Washim.

The history of Hingoli dates back to ancient times when it was known as Hingulipura. It was a part of the Mauryan empire and later came under the rule of the Satavahanas. During the medieval period, Hingoli was ruled by various dynasties, including the Yadavas, Bahamanis, and the Nizams of Hyderabad. The district played a significant role in the Indian freedom struggle, and many freedom fighters hailed from Hingoli.

Economy

The economy of Hingoli is primarily based on agriculture, with the district being one of the major producers of cotton, soybean, and pulses in the state. Apart from agriculture, the district also has a thriving small-scale industry sector, which includes industries such as cotton ginning and pressing, oil mills, and rice mills.
