Tumkur Tourism

Tumkur is a district located in the southern part of the Indian state of Karnataka. It is bounded by Chikmagalur and Hassan districts to the north, Mandya to the east, Bengaluru Rural to the southeast, Chitradurga to the west, and Ramanagara to the southwest. The district has a total area of 10,598 square kilometers and a population of approximately 2.6 million people. The district headquarters are located in the city of Tumkur.Tumkur is known for its rich cultural heritage and is home to several ancient temples and historic monuments. The city is spread over an area of 45.83 square kilometers and is located at a distance of 70 kilometers from Bengaluru.

According to the 2011 Census of India, the population of Tumkur city is 305,877. The city has a literacy rate of 82.96% and a sex ratio of 977 females for every 1000 males. Kannada is the most widely spoken language in the city, followed by Hindi and English.

Economy

The economy of Tumkur is primarily driven by agriculture and industry. The city is known for its production of coconut, paddy, and ragi. It is also home to several large-scale industries such as steel, textiles, and cement. The Tumkur Industrial Area is a major hub for industries in the city.
