Imphal East is a district in Manipur and is one of the eight districts in the state. It is located in the eastern part of the state and covers an area of 709 square kilometers. According to the 2011 census, the population of Imphal East was 456,113, with a sex ratio of 985 females for every 1000 males. The literacy rate in the district was 79.21%, with male literacy at 86.45% and female literacy at 71.63%. The majority of the population in Imphal East is Meitei, followed by other tribes such as Naga, Kuki, and Pangal.

Imphal East's economy is primarily based on agriculture and handicrafts. The district is known for its high-quality handloom and handicraft products, such as shawls, sarongs, bags, and other textiles.
