Sonar Fort holds a special place in Jaisalmer's scenic spot This fort is built on the Trikut hill at an altitude of about 80 meters. Also called the Jaisalmer Fort The construction of the Lemar Fort was started by Rao Jaisal in 1156 but due to his death in his short life, his later kings accomplished this. Within Sonar Fort there are many important buildings that are specially visible, including Moti Mahal, Rang Mahal, Raj Vilas etc. The castle is a sample of architecture and fine workmanship.

The Jaisalmer fort is made of huge stones pieces of yellow stones, hence the sun shines like gold, hence it is also known as Golden Fort.

There are also some Jain temples built from 12th to 15th century. Which is worth seeing. There are no such fluttering spears, garden-gardens, canals-fountains, like the Mughal fortresses. On the contrary, this fort is largely like the fort of Chittaur, where houses are built for palaces, temples, administrators and the people. Even today, a large part of Lemar's population lives inside the fort. These people have allowed many parts to remain in their ancient style.

Jain Temple

Jain temples must also be seen in the Golden Fort. It captivates with its beautiful architecture and design. This temple has been built with complex carvings and artwork on white and yellow stones.

Witness the victorious war cannon

The symbol symbol of Rajputi Shani who never considered defeat at the top of the fort is also to be seen. This cannon is part of many wars. According to the war strategy, the place where this cannon is placed, you can see the entire city.

Local market

As soon as you enter the fort, you will find a market at Gopa Chowk in its eastern part. Here you will find many things made from the handicraft of Rajasthan. This place is also known as Sunset View Point.
