In Humayun's Tomb Humayun's body is buried at two different places. Humayun's tomb has many small monuments as well. Along with Humayun there are also some other Mughal rulers' tombs which can be seen. A small museum located at its entrance is also worth seeing. The Humayun's Tomb in Delhi is the first garden tomb in India. As the name suggests is Humayun's Tomb of mausoleum of the Mughal Emperor Humayun along with tombs of many other dignitaries of the Mughal Empire. It was built between the years of 1569-70 by his first wife Hamida Banu Begum. and designed by Mirak Mirza. Mirak Mirza was a Persian architect this monument is one of the first specimens of Mughal architecture in the Indian subcontinent. Humayun's Tomb Located on the banks of the River Yamuna. The tomb has been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993.When she died she was also buried there. The last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah II was captured here by Lieutenant Hudson in 1857 A.D.
You will find cenotaphs all around the building. To avoid vandalism these cenotaphs have been bricked. You will need a good 1 to 2 hours to view and admire the garden and the interiors and exteriors of mausoleum. You will also find the tomb of Isa Khan an Afghan noble in the complex. The famous Humayun's Tomb of Delhi is considered to be the precursor of the 'Taj Mahal' as far as the architectural structure is concerned. It represents the Mughal style of architecture at its best. One of the major attractions in the city this mausoleum serves as the burial ground of several Mughals apart from the emperor himself. Humayun Tomb is located on Mathura Road and the Nearest Delhi Metro Station is the JLN Stadium of Delhi Metro Violet Line. It is situated approx. 2 km from the Metro Station and one may take an auto rickshaw from the JLN Metro Station to reach Humayun Tomb.
